Bourbonnais Township Offers Dinosaur Lecture on September 21

Bourbonnais, IL – The Bourbonnais Township Park District is hosting an educational event titled "Dinosaur & Animals of the Mesozoic Era" on Monday, September 21, 2026. The program is scheduled to run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Exploration Station.

According to the park district, this indoor lecture-style program offers participants a chance to explore creatures that ruled the earth for over 160 million years. Attendees will learn about famous species including Velociraptor, Archaeopteryx, and T. rex. The presentation will also feature other prehistoric animals such as pterosaurs, mosasaurs, crocodilians, turtles, fishes, and early birds.

The event includes the use of replica fossils and specimens to enhance the learning experience. The session will conclude with a discussion on the mass extinction of dinosaurs and the subsequent rise of mammals. Officials note that the event is open to all ages, though viewer discretion is advised for younger children due to the topic of extinction.
