Charles County, MD Drug Bust: $10K in Cocaine, Cannabis Seized

Waldorf, MD – A Charles County narcotics investigation led to the arrest of a Waldorf man and the seizure of cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of $10,000, authorities announced Thursday.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, Narcotics Enforcement Section detectives served a search warrant Aug. 28 at a hotel room in the 11700 block of Business Park Drive in Waldorf, part of the Washington metropolitan area.

The search was conducted as part of an ongoing drug distribution investigation, authorities said.

Shortly before detectives searched the hotel room, investigators located 35-year-old Tyriek Lamont Courtney of Waldorf at a nearby gas station and arrested him, according to the sheriff's office.

Following the arrest, detectives allegedly recovered approximately $10,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis from Courtney's hotel room. Authorities said drug-packaging materials and cash were also recovered during the investigation.

Courtney was charged with felony drug violations, according to the sheriff's office. Specific counts were not detailed in the agency's initial public statement.

Authorities said Courtney was being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center following his arrest.

The sheriff's office described the case as an ongoing drug distribution investigation and did not disclose the quantities of cocaine or cannabis allegedly recovered. No additional arrests were announced in the initial statement.

The charges against Courtney are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
