Coos County, OR Drug Bust: 180 Pounds of Marijuana Seized

Coos Bay, OR – Authorities in Coos County say a month-long investigation led to the discovery of an alleged illegal commercial marijuana operation containing hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment and about 180 pounds of processed marijuana.

According to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team, or SCINT, obtained a search warrant for a property at 91597 Newman Place in Coos Bay after investigating suspected marijuana violations. The warrant was executed Sept. 11 by the Coos County Emergency Response Team.

Investigators said the property was allegedly equipped for a commercial marijuana operation and had been operating without a license for several years in Coos County.

SCINT reported seizing approximately 180 pounds of processed marijuana, along with lysergic acid diethylamide, commonly known as LSD, and psilocybin mushrooms. Authorities did not specify the quantities of LSD or mushrooms allegedly recovered.

Investigators estimated the marijuana's street value at approximately $270,000, based on their belief that it was intended to be transported and sold in a state where marijuana remains illegal. The sheriff's office did not identify that state or disclose how the estimate was calculated.

The agency said the investigation involved suspected violations related to unlawful marijuana or hemp possession and unlawful marijuana production under Oregon law.

No arrests or criminal charges were announced in the sheriff's office statement. Authorities also did not identify the owner or operator of the alleged operation.

SCINT thanked members of the Emergency Response Team and the community member whose report authorities said helped initiate the investigation.
