Danville - Death Investigation Near Memorial Bridge

Danville, IL – Danville Police were dispatched to the Memorial Bridge area at 25 S. Gilbert Street on Saturday, September 19, 2026, following a report of an unresponsive individual. Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 5:15 p.m. and discovered a man lying near the riverbank.

Medical personnel also arrived on the scene, but the individual was pronounced deceased. The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old man from Catlin, Illinois. The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office is expected to formally notify next-of-kin, and officials are currently withholding the man's identity.

While the preliminary investigation revealed no outward signs of foul play, the police department stated that the circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation. The department has indicated that no additional details will be provided at this time while the investigation is ongoing.
