Lake County, IN – Overnight closures planned for I-65

Lake County, Indiana – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Northwest district has released an update regarding upcoming construction projects on I-65 south of State Road 2. Drivers should anticipate increased activity this week between mile markers 237 and 240 as crews begin necessary infrastructure improvements.

Work slated for the next two weeks includes pipe installation and median enhancements. Following these initial phases, overnight milling and paving operations are scheduled to commence the week of September 21, 2026, with work starting in the inside lanes in both directions. Motorists should be prepared for various traffic impacts during this period, including lane closures occurring between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Throughout the duration of the project, officials advise drivers to expect ongoing shoulder closures and changing traffic patterns as construction configurations evolve. INDOT urges all motorists to remain attentive when traveling through the work zone, follow posted speed limits, and plan for potential delays during evening commutes.
