Lake County, IN Police: Alleged Ruse Burglary Suspect Captured

Dyer, IN – A man identified by Dyer police as the suspect in an alleged ruse burglary has been taken into custody, closing a monthlong investigation in the Lake County community of Northwest Indiana near Chicago.

According to the Dyer Police Department, officers warned residents about the burglary about a month ago but did not publicly identify the suspect at that time because detectives were actively investigating the case.

Police said detectives identified Corky Miller as the alleged suspect within 24 hours of the burglary. The department announced Monday that Miller had been taken into custody Sunday.

Authorities described the original incident as a "ruse burglary," a term commonly used by police for burglaries involving some form of deception or distraction to gain access to a property. Dyer police did not provide additional details in Monday's update about how the alleged burglary unfolded.

The department shared photographs of Miller while announcing the arrest and said investigators now consider the case solved.
