Maine Weather Alert: 30°F Lows Bring Frost Monday Night After Rain Lingers Into the Afternoon

Caribou, Maine – Residents across northern Maine should prepare sensitive plants for another cold night Monday as temperatures fall into the 30s, with parts of the North Woods approaching 30 degrees after lingering showers finally move out.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, rain showers will continue tonight and into Monday. Downeast Maine and the Bangor area should see rain taper early Monday morning, while showers across northern areas could persist into the early afternoon. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible, particularly in the North Woods.

The colder concern arrives Monday night. The NWS expects mid- to upper 30s across much of northern Maine, with temperatures around freezing in the North Woods. The temperature map shows about 37 degrees in Caribou and Fort Kent, 38 in Van Buren and 34 near Presque Isle.

Colder pockets could reach 30 degrees near Estcourt, while Greenville remains around 42. Residents should cover sensitive vegetation before temperatures fall Monday night.

Patchy river fog could also develop regionwide as winds become calm, potentially reducing visibility on roads near waterways during the overnight and early morning hours.

Tuesday brings a significant improvement with sunshine and seasonable temperatures. Wednesday stays sunny to partly sunny with highs in the low to mid-70s before the next chance of rain arrives Thursday.
