Minooka Crews Battle Residential Blaze on September 7

Minooka, IL – The Minooka Fire Protection District reported a significant structure fire at a home on 1325 Marigold Lane on Monday, September 7, 2026. Emergency crews were dispatched to the residence at approximately 11:10 p.m. to address a blaze that spanned multiple levels of the medium-sized two-story single-family house.

According to Deputy Chief Brad Sprague, upon arrival, Battalion 13 observed signs of a working fire and immediately requested a full-still response, bringing in mutual-aid support from multiple surrounding departments. Crews found flames extending through the basement, the first floor, the second floor, and the attic space. While firefighters initially conducted an interior attack, safety concerns prompted a temporary shift to defensive operations before crews were able to re-enter the building to complete the extinguishment and overhaul.

First responders confirmed that all human occupants were safely accounted for outside the structure. Furthermore, firefighters successfully located and removed multiple dogs and cats from the home, reuniting the animals with their owners. One resident reportedly sustained injuries during the event but declined medical treatment. The fire was brought under control within forty minutes, though the house suffered extensive damage.

Assistance during the incident was provided by departments from Channahon, Morris, Troy, Plainfield, Joliet, Wilmington, Elwood, and Coal City, with communications support from the Grundy County EMA. Additional fire districts provided station coverage to ensure continued service for the area while local crews managed the scene. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
