Multnomah County, OR Death Investigation Underway in Fairview Today

Fairview, OR – A suspicious death investigation is underway Thursday after a man was found dead behind a business near a Fairview shopping center, prompting a temporary closure along NE 227th Avenue.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, emergency dispatchers received a 911 report at approximately 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, concerning a person down in the street behind a business near NE 227th Avenue, north of NE Halsey Street.
Deputies and American Medical Response personnel arrived within minutes and determined the person had died, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives responding to the scene determined the deceased was a white man believed to be in his 40s or early 50s. His identity is being withheld until his family has been notified.
Investigators interviewed several potential witnesses as part of what the sheriff’s office described as a thorough on-scene investigation. NE 227th Avenue was briefly closed while authorities worked at the scene.
The sheriff’s office said detectives do not believe there is a threat to the public. No additional details about the circumstances or potential cause of the man’s death were immediately released.
Authorities emphasized that information released Thursday is preliminary and could change as the investigation progresses.
