Naperville: Community Honors 9/11 Victims at Ceremony

Naperville, IL – The community will gather, September 11, 2026, to participate in an annual remembrance ceremony honoring the victims and heroes of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The event is set to take place at the Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial, located at 400 S. Eagle St.

According to the organization behind the event, Naperville Responds, the memorial service is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. on September 11, 2026. This public event serves as a time for residents to pay their respects and reflect on the national tragedy.

The commemorative ceremony will feature a keynote speech delivered by retired Marine Maj. Charles Lynn Lowder. Attendance at the remembrance event is free to the public, and additional information regarding the organization can be found on their website at https://www.napervilleresponds.org/.
