Pennsylvania Homicide: $5,000 Reward Offered in 1992 Teen Death

Northampton, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are renewing their search for answers in the decades-old homicide of a 15-year-old Northampton High School student, offering a $5,000 reward for information that solves the case.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M's Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit continues to investigate the death of Christopher Keller, who was killed Sept. 24, 1992, while riding a Kawasaki dirt bike along a trail near railroad tracks running parallel to the Lehigh River.

Keller had a passenger seated behind him when investigators say an unidentified person or multiple people strung an electrical cable across the trail and tied it between two trees.

Keller struck the cable, throwing both riders from the dirt bike, according to state police. Keller suffered blunt-force injuries that caused his death. Police have classified the case as a homicide.

Keller lived in nearby Northampton and attended Northampton High School at the time of his death.

More than three decades later, investigators are asking anyone who may know who placed the cable across the trail, or who has other information that could help solve the case, to come forward.

A $5,000 cash reward is being offered for information that solves the case. Pennsylvania State Police said reward money is not funded by taxpayers.
