Twin Cities Rain: Up to 2 Inches Possible Monday

Twin Cities, Minnesota – Widespread rain arrives Monday, with at least 0.5 inch expected across most of the area and totals of 1 to 2 inches possible.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, rain will spread across eastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin Monday and continue into Monday night. Before the rain arrives, temperatures will fall into the upper 30s in the coldest parts of northwest Wisconsin Sunday night.

Rain chances increase sharply across Minnesota during the day Monday. In the Twin Cities, the chance rises from 5% at noon to 80% at 3 p.m., reaching 100% at 6 p.m. before falling to 75% at 9 p.m.

Areas west and north of the metro could see rain earlier. Alexandria has a 65% chance at noon and a 95% chance at 3 p.m. Saint Cloud reaches an 85% chance at 3 p.m. and 100% by 6 p.m.

Rain also becomes increasingly likely across western Wisconsin Monday afternoon and evening. Eau Claire reaches a 90% chance at 3 p.m. and 100% at 6 and 9 p.m. Ladysmith reaches a 95% chance at 6 p.m.

The widespread, soaking rainfall could affect Monday afternoon and evening travel, particularly during periods of heavier rain. Drivers should allow additional time and be prepared for wet roads and reduced visibility.

Monday's temperatures will range from 60 to 70 degrees, with windy conditions accompanying the rain. Rain exits early Tuesday, followed by mostly sunny and breezy weather with highs from 67 to 72.

Another chance of rain arrives Wednesday, including a 40% to 50% chance across southern Minnesota. Residents should prepare for Monday's wet travel period and monitor updates as the rain moves across the region.
