Rockingham County, NC Alert: Suspect Sought After Shots at Deputies

Reidsville, NC – A multi-agency search is underway in Rockingham County for a 38-year-old man authorities say allegedly fired multiple shots toward deputies before fleeing on foot.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies encountered Marvin Dean White while responding to a disturbance on Walker Street in Reidsville.

When deputies arrived, White allegedly fired multiple shots in their direction before running from the area, the sheriff’s office said. No deputies were injured.

Authorities said warrants have been obtained for White, who remains wanted. The sheriff’s office warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous and urged members of the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend him.

White is described as approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 215 pounds. Authorities said he was last seen shirtless and wearing black pants.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Reidsville Police Department are assisting the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office with the search.

The sheriff’s office issued a public safety alert as the search continued Saturday, urging residents to immediately report any sightings or information about White’s whereabouts.

The allegations against White have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
