Albany Fall Begins Cool With High Near 66 Degrees

Albany, New York – Fall begins Tuesday with below-normal temperatures across eastern New York as Albany reaches about 66 degrees and skies gradually brighten.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, astronomical fall begins at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday. The day will start partly to mostly cloudy before sunshine increases across much of the region during the afternoon.

The Capital Region will see a mix of clouds and sun, while mostly sunny conditions develop farther north and west. Albany is expected to reach about 66 degrees.

Temperatures will vary across eastern New York and neighboring portions of New England. Glens Falls reaches about 65 degrees, while Cobleskill tops out near 63 and Hunter reaches only about 58.

Farther west, Syracuse could reach 68 degrees and Ithaca 69. Old Forge is expected to reach about 62, while Newcomb stays near 61.

Similar early-fall conditions extend east of Albany. Bennington, Vermont, reaches about 64 degrees, with Pittsfield, Massachusetts, near 63. Poughkeepsie is among the warmer locations shown, reaching about 67 degrees.

No significant precipitation threat is indicated in the Weather Service information provided. For people with afternoon travel or outdoor plans, increasing sunshine should provide improving conditions after the cloudier start.

The cooler-than-normal temperatures arrive just as astronomical fall officially gets underway Tuesday evening.
