Eastern New York Rain Chances Climb This Weekend

Albany, New York – Dry, cool weather starts the five-day period before rain chances increase across eastern New York heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, temperatures will run slightly below normal initially before moderating to seasonal levels late in the week and into the weekend. Rain chances increase especially during the weekend as a coastal low approaches, though its track and timing remain uncertain.

Albany starts the period near 60 degrees in the morning before reaching 67 during the day. Temperatures then fall to about 47 overnight. The city reaches 67 the following day before temperatures moderate toward 69.

Communities farther north and west will see some of the coolest overnight readings. Old Forge drops to around 41 degrees, while Piseco reaches about 40. Cobleskill and Bennington fall into the mid-40s.

The Hudson Valley stays somewhat milder. Poughkeepsie reaches 68 early in the period and later climbs to 69, while Kingston reaches 67 before another reading near 68.

The more significant change arrives toward the weekend as precipitation probabilities rise across the region. Albany's rain chance increases to 20% and then 35%, eventually reaching 50% in the five-day outlook. Bennington reaches 51%, while Brattleboro and Pittsfield reach 55%.

The coastal system remains the key uncertainty. Changes in its track and timing could affect when and where rain develops across eastern New York and western New England. Residents with weekend travel or outdoor plans should check for updated information as the system approaches.
