Hartland Authorities Arrest Two for Farm Burglary and Larceny

Hartland, NY – The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau announced on September 16, 2026, the successful conclusion of an investigation into a significant burglary and larceny at a local farm. The incident, which reportedly took place at 3194 Hartland Road, resulted in the theft of a New Holland hay baler and other miscellaneous items estimated to be worth more than $23,000.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the investigation led to the arrest of two individuals, both residents of Appleton, New York. Charles E. Walker, 35, was taken into custody on September 3, 2026, while 34-year-old Matthew A. Meyer was arrested on September 15, 2026. Both men have been charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree; all counts are classified as D-felonies.

The suspects were processed and held for arraignment at CAP Court in the Niagara County Correctional Facility. Authorities have scheduled future court dates in the Town of Hartland for both men. The investigation involved multiple personnel, including Investigator J. Westmorland, Investigator T. Caughel, and Deputy S. Kapucinski, under the supervision of Captain M. Reele.

The recovery of the items and the apprehension of the suspects were cited as a priority for the local law enforcement agency.
