Jefferson County, MO Homicide: Man Surrenders After 5-Hour Standoff

Jefferson County, MO – A homicide investigation is underway Thursday after an adult woman was found dead inside a Jefferson County home following a roughly five-hour negotiation with a man who eventually surrendered to authorities.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received the initial call around 7:30 a.m. Thursday regarding a home in the 6200 block of Dulin Creek Road.

Road patrol deputies and SWAT team members surrounded the residence while negotiators established contact with an adult man inside, authorities said.

After approximately five hours of negotiations, the man came outside and surrendered. The sheriff's office said he was taken into custody without incident.

SWAT members then entered the residence and discovered an adult woman deceased inside, according to authorities. The scene was subsequently turned over to detectives for a homicide investigation.

The sheriff's office has not publicly identified the woman or the man taken into custody. Officials also have not disclosed their relationship, what allegedly happened inside the residence or what prompted the initial 911 call.

No information about potential charges against the man was announced in the sheriff's office's initial statement. Authorities have also not released the woman's cause or manner of death.

The sheriff's office said multiple divisions within the agency worked together during the response, along with assistance from outside agencies.

Detectives remained in the early stages of the investigation Thursday afternoon. The sheriff's office said additional information will be released when officials determine it is appropriate.
