Kansas City Stays Cool Before Weekend Rain Chances

Kansas City, Missouri – Dry, cooler weather continues Wednesday before rain chances return late Thursday and increase across the Kansas City area Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, Wednesday will stay dry with highs in the mid-70s and clearer skies. Kansas City is expected to reach about 74 degrees, with a 5% chance of precipitation.

Rain chances begin increasing Thursday. Kansas City has a 5% precipitation chance Wednesday, rising to 40% Friday and 40% Saturday in the NWS outlook. Thursday's high is expected to reach about 75 degrees before temperatures climb to 78 Friday.

Other communities across western and central Missouri and northeast Kansas will see a similar change. Olathe reaches about 75 Wednesday and 74 Thursday, while precipitation chances rise to 60% Friday. Lee's Summit has a 30% chance Friday, increasing to 35% Saturday.

Farther north, St. Joseph has a 60% precipitation chance Friday, while Maryville reaches 60%. Leavenworth has a 50% chance Friday.

The NWS said showers return late Thursday and early Friday, with a few rumbles of thunder possible over the weekend. Severe weather is not expected based on the current outlook.

Residents with weekend travel or outdoor plans should monitor updates as rain chances continue beyond Friday. Temperatures will generally remain seasonable, with Kansas City reaching the upper 70s to low 80s over the weekend as precipitation chances persist.
