Mesa County Sheriff's Office Reports Series of Recent Arrests

Grand Junction, CO – The Mesa County Sheriff's Office has released information regarding several arrests made in the local community throughout the first week of September. The incidents span a variety of charges, including domestic violence, theft, and weapon-related offenses, leading to multiple bookings at the county's detention facility.

According to official reports, authorities initiated a traffic stop on September 3, 2026, in the 400 block of 32 Road in Clifton. Officers allegedly identified Kendale Bryant-Townsell, 31, in possession of a handgun while exhibiting signs of intoxication. Bryant-Townsell was booked on charges of prohibited use of a weapon and a failure to appear warrant. He was released on September 4, 2026, following a personal recognizance bond.

On September 4, 2026, deputies responded to a report of theft in progress in the 3100 block of Glendam Road in Grand Junction. Officers apprehended Kyler Rentie, 36, who was allegedly found with stolen delivery packages. Following his arrest, investigators reported discovering suspected methamphetamine on his person, resulting in additional charges including drug possession and introducing contraband into the facility. Rentie was released on September 5, 2026.

Law enforcement also addressed two separate incidents on September 6, 2026. Shortly after 2 p.m. in the 400 block of Alamo Street in Grand Junction, deputies arrived at an assault scene where a female victim was found with significant injuries and transported to a local hospital. Craig Purtell, 30, was taken into custody on charges including second-degree assault and domestic violence. Later that evening, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to a second assault in the 200 block of 29 Road. An investigation is currently underway regarding suspect Michael Snyder, 40, who faces multiple charges including second-degree assault and child abuse. Snyder remains in custody without bond.

The sheriff's office emphasized that domestic violence can escalate significantly over time and urged residents experiencing or witnessing such behavior to contact emergency services immediately. Investigations into these matters remain active as the department processes the various charges filed against the suspects.
