Montana Weather: 80s Arrive Before Friday Cold Front

Glasgow, Montana – Northeast Montana warms into the 80s in some areas this week before a Friday night cold front sends weekend highs sharply lower.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, conditions will remain mostly dry while temperatures gradually rise through Friday. The main exception comes Wednesday, when showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over the Yellowstone Valley.

Glendive has a 60% chance of precipitation Wednesday, the highest listed among communities in the outlook. Sidney has a 45% chance. Chances are lower elsewhere, including 15% in Jordan and 10% in Winnett and Zortman.

Temperatures climb noticeably Thursday. Glasgow reaches 85 degrees, while Glendive and Jordan reach 84. Sidney and Plentywood rise to 83, with Winnett at 82 and Wolf Point at 86.

Friday remains warm, with highs of 80 in Glasgow and Glendive, 81 in Jordan and 82 in Winnett and Malta. Most locations have precipitation chances of 20% or less.

The larger temperature change follows Friday night as a cold front crosses the region. Saturday highs fall to 70 in Glasgow, Jordan and Winnett, while Opheim reaches only 63 and Zortman 62. Cooler air remains Sunday, when Glasgow reaches 67, Opheim 59 and Zortman 60.

Residents in the Yellowstone Valley should be prepared for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday. Elsewhere, mostly dry conditions dominate through much of the workweek before the Friday night front ushers in a cooler weekend.
