Dayton, OH – Montgomery County authorities are investigating after a firearm was allegedly discharged during a fight Wednesday afternoon in Washington Township, with two people leaving the scene before deputies arrived.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, deputies from the Washington Township Substation responded to the 8600 block of Washington Church Road at approximately 12:31 p.m. Wednesday following a report of a fight.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a firearm was allegedly discharged into the air during the incident, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Investigators said two people involved in the incident left the area before deputies arrived. One allegedly fled on foot, while the other left in a silver Nissan Altima.

The sheriff's office did not release descriptions of the two individuals or provide additional identifying information about the vehicle. Authorities also did not say what allegedly prompted the confrontation or whether investigators have identified the people involved.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Washington Township is in Montgomery County, south of Dayton, making the investigation relevant to residents throughout the greater Dayton area.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the fight, the gunfire or the people who left the scene to contact investigators.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff's office had not announced any arrests or charges connected to the incident.
