Nationwide Recall Issued This Week for Walmart Frozen Berries

Retail giant Walmart has initiated a recall for packages of frozen mixed berries due to the potential presence of E. coli bacteria. The affected products, sold under the Great Value label as Organic Triple Berry Blend, may pose significant health risks to consumers who have the items stored in their freezers.

According to the FDA, individuals who consume the contaminated berries may experience severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. The agency is warning the public to take immediate action to prevent foodborne illness by checking their freezer inventories.

The recalled items were distributed across 16 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin. Consumers in these regions should verify their berry products against the specific Great Value branding mentioned in the recall notice.

Health officials are urging anyone in possession of the recalled frozen berries to discard them immediately or return the items to their local Walmart store for a refund. No other products are currently included in this health advisory.
