Putnam County, TN Prostitution Investigation Leads to 2 Arrests

Putnam County, TN – A months-long investigation into a Cookeville spa led to two arrests and the seizure of more than $1,100 after authorities executed a search warrant Wednesday, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation executed the warrant at Joy An Spa, 1791 N. Washington Ave., in Cookeville at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. Authorities said two people were taken into custody and $1,104.51 was seized.

Investigators alleged that undercover Putnam County Sheriff's Office investigators and TBI special agents used techniques during the investigation to confirm that illegal commercial prostitution acts were being offered at the business.

Authorities identified those arrested as Yajing Yang and Lifang Yeng.

According to the sheriff's office, Yang was charged with impersonation of a licensed professional and received an $11,000 bond. Officials also said Yang has an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

Yeng was charged with prostitution, promoting prostitution and impersonation of a licensed professional, according to the release. Her bond was set at $32,500.

The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Sheriff Eddie Farris said investigators spent months developing the case and gathering evidence. He said authorities would continue efforts to combat prostitution and human trafficking while identifying potential victims.

The investigation involved both the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and TBI.
