Quad Cities Region Braces for Potential River Flooding

Quad Cities, IA – Recent rounds of heavy rainfall and subsequent run-off are expected to cause significant rises in water levels across several regional river basins through the upcoming week.

According to the National Weather Service, portions of the Mississippi River, particularly from the Quad Cities area southward, may reach at least a minor flood stage starting as early as September 20, 2026, and continuing into the week. Other vulnerable basins identified include the Wapsi, Rock, English, Cedar, Iowa, and Skunk rivers.

Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions closely as rivers may reach various flood stages throughout the coming days. Authorities emphasize that individuals residing along rivers should prepare for potential flooding. It is strongly advised that motorists and pedestrians never walk or drive across flooded roads.
