Student Researchers Gain Hands-On Experience in UT’s Turtle Pond

Since 2022, students at UT have tracked campus turtles as part of a hands-on research project. Their findings, published in July, identify a distinctive microbial makeup in the turtles, offering insight into the animals’ biology and campus ecosystems. The study also highlights how fieldwork gives students experience contributing to original scientific research.
