Texas Weather Alert: 108°F Heat Index Hits North Texas Sunday as Heat Advisory Runs Until 8 PM

Dallas, Texas – Heat index values as high as 108 degrees could strain outdoor activity across North Texas Sunday afternoon, with a Heat Advisory continuing until 8 p.m. before another stretch of near-record warmth carries into the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, hot and humid conditions will push temperatures and heat index values into the 90s and triple digits Sunday. Dallas-Fort Worth could reach 101 degrees with a peak heat index near 106. Paris faces a potential 108-degree heat index, while Sherman could reach 106 and Graham 107.

The heat will persist after Sunday's advisory expires. Dallas-Fort Worth is expected to reach 100 Monday, 101 Tuesday and 100 Wednesday. Highs ease only slightly to 99 Thursday and 98 Friday. Normal highs for this time of year are closer to 88 to 89 degrees.

Little to no rain is expected through the week, increasing concerns about dry vegetation and elevated fire conditions.

Residents should drink water frequently, take breaks in the shade or air conditioning and limit strenuous outdoor work during the hottest afternoon hours. Children and pets should never be left inside vehicles.

North Texas remains unusually hot through Friday, with temperatures staying in the upper 90s even late in the week.
