Upstate SC Weather Tonight: Temperatures Drop Into the 40s

Charlotte, NC – A crisp fall weekend is settling across the western Carolinas, with temperatures dropping well into the 40s in many communities Saturday night and remaining unusually cool again Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg, lows across most locations will run roughly 4 to 8 degrees below normal Saturday night and Sunday night.

The chilliest conditions are expected across the North Carolina mountains. Forecast temperatures shown by the weather service fall to around 40 degrees in some higher-elevation communities, while Asheville is forecast near the upper 40s to around 50.

Across the Charlotte region and North Carolina foothills, many communities are expected to fall into the upper 40s and lower 50s. Charlotte is forecast near 50 degrees Saturday night, according to the agency's Saturday morning outlook.

Upstate South Carolina will also feel the cooler air. Greenville and Spartanburg are expected to reach the lower 50s, with some locations farther north and at higher elevations dipping into the 40s.

Another cool night follows Sunday. While temperatures generally edge slightly higher, the weather service forecast still shows widespread 40s and lower 50s across western North Carolina and the Upstate.

The cooler temperatures are not presented as a freeze threat in the agency's graphic, but residents heading outdoors early in the morning or late at night may want an extra layer.

Drivers should also expect noticeably cooler conditions during early morning travel as September comes to a crisp close across the region.
