Wood County Crash: Train Hits Vehicle at Harris Highway Today

Wood County, WV – A serious collision involving a train and a passenger vehicle occurred this morning, April 9, 2026, prompting a massive emergency response. The incident took place at the intersection of Harris Highway and Belleville Drive at 09:02.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, the collision involved a train and a 2019 Kia Sorento. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Gregory Grimm, sustained injuries during the crash.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene immediately following the 09:02 incident to provide medical assistance. Due to the nature of his injuries, Gregory Grimm was airlifted from the site of the collision at Harris Highway and Belleville Drive. He was transported via helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center for urgent care.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office is currently managing the scene and investigating the circumstances surrounding the impact. The investigation is ongoing to determine how the 2019 Kia Sorento and the train came to collide at the crossing.
