Indianapolis, IN – Indiana transportation officials are preparing for winter and looking for licensed CDL drivers, with seasonal hiring events scheduled across the state Tuesday.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, winter seasonal hiring events will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time. INDOT is recruiting drivers to work with its winter operations teams from November through March.

Hiring locations stretch across multiple INDOT districts, giving applicants options in northern, central and southern Indiana.

Northwest Indiana events are scheduled in Gary, La Porte, Plymouth and Rensselaer. Northeast locations include Fort Wayne, Wabash and Elkhart.

INDOT will also hold an event at 5693 E. Sony Drive in Terre Haute for the West Central District and at 7105 Brookville Road in Indianapolis for the East Central District.

Southern Indiana applicants can attend events in Paoli, Evansville and Tell City.

The seasonal positions are part of INDOT's annual preparations for snow and ice operations on Indiana highways. The agency relies on winter crews to help maintain state roads during snow, freezing rain and other hazardous conditions.

Applicants should note that INDOT specifically said it is seeking licensed CDL drivers for the seasonal positions. Exact employment requirements, pay information and application details were not included in the agency's social media announcement.

Drivers interested in the positions can find additional information through INDOT's Winter Hiring 2026 page at bit.ly/WinterHiring2026.

The hiring push comes as INDOT begins preparing its statewide winter operations ahead of colder weather.
