Buffalo, NY – Frost is likely Monday night, Oct. 5, across inland portions of western New York away from the lakes before temperatures rebound during the middle of the week.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo highlighted the inland frost potential as the most notable weather feature in its Oct. 5-10 outlook. The frost risk is specifically for locations inland from the lakes and should not be interpreted as covering the entire Buffalo forecast area.

Regional temperatures fall sharply Monday night into early Tuesday, with the NWS outlook showing some inland readings dropping into the upper 30s. Locations closer to the lakes are expected to remain milder.

Temperatures recover Tuesday, with the regional forecast showing afternoon readings climbing back through the 50s. A more noticeable warmup follows Wednesday into Thursday, when some locations could reach the mid-60s.

The mostly quiet pattern may also include limited precipitation. The NWS said a spot shower is possible Wednesday as a warm front moves through.

A few showers could linger Thursday and Friday across the North Country. That precipitation potential is focused farther north and does not indicate widespread rain across all of western New York.

By Friday and Saturday, regional daytime temperatures are generally shown reaching the lower 60s, while nighttime readings fall back into the 40s and 50s depending on location.

For western New York, Monday night's likely inland frost is the first weather concern to watch this week. Residents away from the lakes with sensitive vegetation should monitor local forecasts for more specific temperatures and any frost-related advisories.
