Grafton, WI – Authorities are asking for the public’s help Saturday to locate a 37-year-old man suspected in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured an 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle in Ozaukee County.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at approximately 6:36 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of North Port Washington Road in the Town of Grafton, north of the Milwaukee area.

Investigators allege David J. Sitar was driving a white 2013 Ford Econoline work van when it struck the boy as the vehicle exited a residential area. The sheriff’s office said Sitar allegedly left the scene shortly after the collision.

The child was hospitalized and remained in critical condition when authorities issued the news release.

Deputies have since located and recovered the van, but Sitar’s whereabouts remained unknown Saturday. Investigators said he may be in the Kenosha area and could be relying on relatives, friends or rideshare services for transportation.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sitar has active felony warrants for first-degree reckless endangering safety, hit-and-run causing injury and operating a motor vehicle without a license causing great bodily harm. Authorities also said he has an active Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation and parole warrant.

Sitar is described as approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone who has seen Sitar, knows where he is or may have recently transported him is asked to contact the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office at 262-284-7172 and reference case 26-22307. Rideshare drivers who may have transported him are also being asked to provide information that could help investigators locate him.
