Dekorra Township, WI – On Thursday, September 17, 2026, a Columbia County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a silver SUV after observing the vehicle weaving across lanes on eastbound I-90/94 near the CTH CS exit. The deputy initially monitored the vehicle after noting fluctuating speeds and failure to maintain a lane, eventually initiating a stop at the 115 mile marker.

Authorities state that upon contact with the driver, the deputy detected the odor of intoxicants. The driver, identified as 65-year-old Mark Carlson of Janesville, Wisconsin, reportedly agreed to but then refused standardized field sobriety tests. Following an investigation, officials established probable cause for an arrest.

Carlson was taken into custody and transported to the Columbia County Jail. He was booked on several charges, including Operate While Intoxicated 6th Offense, Failure to Install Ignition Interlock Device, Operate after Revocation, and Violation of Probation.

Sheriff Roger L. Brandner reminded the public that these charges are accusations and that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing.
