Dorchester County, MD Shooting: 4th Suspect Charged With Murder

Linkwood, MD – Maryland State Police have arrested and charged a fourth suspect in connection with an August shooting in Dorchester County that killed a 5-year-old girl and wounded a 30-year-old man.

According to Maryland State Police, the latest suspect is a 16-year-old Dorchester County juvenile charged with first-degree murder and other related criminal offenses. The teenager is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

Police previously charged Anthony D. Harris, 26, and Wendell A. Wongus III, 23, both of Hurlock, with first-degree murder and related offenses. Lindsay Jo Ewing, 42, of Cambridge, was also charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and other offenses. All three are being held without bond, authorities said.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Aug. 11, troopers responded to a home in the 3900 block of Ocean Gateway in Linkwood for a reported shooting. Police found two people suffering from suspected gunshot wounds.

A 5-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, identified as 30-year-old Ryan Adams, was flown to a trauma center for treatment.

Investigators said they believe the Linkwood shooting was related to a separate nonfatal shooting several hours earlier in Hurlock. Adams and a 15-year-old have since been charged with attempted first-degree murder and related offenses in that case, according to police.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continues investigating with assistance from the FBI and other agencies. Authorities are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that may lead to another arrest.
