Kodak Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following September Shooting

Kodak, TN – Sevier County authorities have arrested a 52-year-old local resident in connection with a shooting that occurred early last week. Lawrence M. Ryan, of Snyder Road in Kodak, was taken into custody on Monday, September 7, 2026, during a traffic stop, just days after law enforcement identified him as the primary suspect in an investigation regarding a reported shooting incident.

The incident originally occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 3, 2026. At approximately 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to a home at 4432 Turner Way, where they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Chad Dossett, was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. A female present at the scene was unharmed.

Following the shooting, detectives with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the event. Their findings led them to identify Ryan as the suspect. Upon his arrest on Monday, Ryan was charged with two counts of attempted murder. He has since been booked into the Sevier County Jail and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

The Sheriff's Office stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available. Ryan’s initial court hearing is scheduled for October 9, 2026, in the Sevier County General Sessions Court. Officials reminded the public that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
