Nelson County, VA Hit-and-Run: Police Renew 21-Year-Old Case

Nelson County, VA – Virginia State Police are asking the public for help Thursday as investigators continue working to solve a fatal hit-and-run that has remained open for 21 years.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash happened around midnight on Sept. 10, 2005, when a 17-year-old male pedestrian was struck on Lowesville Road, west of Firehouse Road, in Nelson County.

Police said the vehicle that struck the teenager did not stop and has never been located. Investigators also said there were no witnesses to the crash.

The teenager died from his injuries, according to state police. Authorities did not identify the victim in the public appeal.

More than two decades later, the case remains under investigation, and Virginia State Police are again seeking information that could help investigators determine what happened and identify the vehicle or driver involved.

Police did not announce any new suspect, vehicle description or other evidence in the appeal. The agency's request instead focuses on reaching anyone who may have information about the 2005 crash.
