Pueblo, CO – Above-seasonal warmth will continue across southern Colorado this workweek, with Pueblo reaching the 80s each day and isolated mountain showers and thunderstorms possible at times.

The National Weather Service in Pueblo said Sunday that upper-level ridging over and near the central Rockies will maintain at or above seasonal temperatures through the workweek. Residual moisture will also support a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the mountains.

Monday, Oct. 5, will already be warm across the region. The NWS map shows highs around 81 degrees in Pueblo and Colorado Springs, with lower 80s across portions of the southeastern Colorado plains.

Temperatures climb further Tuesday. Pueblo is forecast to reach 86 degrees, while Colorado Springs could hit 83. La Junta, Lamar, Eads and Springfield are also forecast near 85 to 86 degrees.

A gradual cooldown follows, but temperatures remain mild. Pueblo is forecast to reach 81 Wednesday, 80 Thursday and 78 Friday. Colorado Springs should reach 79 Wednesday, followed by highs around 77 Thursday and 76 Friday.

Mountain communities will remain cooler. Leadville is forecast to reach 64 Tuesday before highs fall to around 59 later in the week. Alamosa is expected to reach 72 Tuesday.

The shower and thunderstorm potential is focused on the mountains and is described by the NWS as isolated rather than widespread. The provided outlook does not indicate a significant severe weather threat.

For Pueblo and southern Colorado, Tuesday's warmth will be the most notable temperature feature before a modest cooling trend develops later in the week.
