ND Highway 6 Fatal Crash Claims Life of Selfridge Resident

Selfridge, ND – A fatal crash occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the intersection of ND Highway 6 and 24th Avenue Southwest. The incident, which took place approximately two miles east of Selfridge, involved a 2018 John Deere Gator side-by-side and a 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 3:05 p.m. Central Time under dry road and weather conditions. A 33-year-old male from Mandan was operating the tractor-trailer, while an 83-year-old female from Selfridge was operating the side-by-side. The patrol reported that the tractor-trailer was traveling west and initiated a lane change to pass the Gator in a passing zone. The operator of the Gator allegedly turned left into the front right bumper of the truck, resulting in the ejection of the Gator driver.

Emergency responders from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Ambulance Service, and the Mobridge (SD) Fire Department arrived at the scene. The driver of the Gator was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Freightliner was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, while the driver of the side-by-side was not.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision. No further details regarding the incident have been released at this time.
