North Dakota Highway 6 Crash Leaves One Dead

Selfridge, ND – A fatal crash occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 3:05 p.m. Central Time on North Dakota Highway 6, at mile marker 10 near the intersection of 24th Avenue Southwest, approximately two miles east of Selfridge. The North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Standing Rock Ambulance Service, and the Mobridge, South Dakota Fire Department responded to the scene.

According to the official investigation, at approximately 3:07 p.m., a 2018 John Deere Gator side-by-side was traveling west on ND Highway 6 from a local farm to a field. A 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer, also traveling west, moved into a passing zone to pass the Gator. The driver of the Gator turned left into the front right bumper of the Freightliner, resulting in an angle/sideswipe collision. The driver of the Gator, an 83-year-old female from Selfridge, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. She was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Freightliner, a 33-year-old male from Mandan, was not injured in the collision and was wearing a seatbelt. Road and weather conditions at the time of the incident were reported as dry. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota State Patrol.
