Pontiac Shooting Leaves One Man Dead, Second in Custody

Pontiac, MI – A 39-year-old man was fatally shot and a second man was wounded and taken into custody following a domestic-related confrontation on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:15 p.m. to the 50 block of Monroe Street for a reported domestic disturbance. Gunshots were reportedly heard in the background during a call to the Sheriff's Operations Center. When deputies arrived, they found a 39-year-old Mount Clemens Township man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 31-year-old St. Clair Shores man was also found suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to a hospital for treatment, where he remains under guard. The preliminary investigation indicates the incident arose from a domestic-related confrontation involving the deceased, his estranged wife, and the man taken into custody. Several children were present during portions of the incident but were not physically injured.

The 31-year-old man will be lodged at the Oakland County Jail upon being medically cleared, pending the results of the investigation and review by the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. Detectives and personnel from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Forensic Science Laboratory responded to investigate and process the scene. The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the deceased and will conduct an autopsy.
