Charles County, MD Traffic: Stadium Festival Brings Weekend Delays

Waldorf, MD – Drivers in Charles County should prepare for heavier traffic Saturday and Sunday as a large music festival brings crowds and possible temporary road closures around Regency Furniture Stadium.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the festival is taking place Saturday and Sunday at the stadium in Waldorf. Motorists should expect delays as vehicles enter and leave the venue and surrounding area.

All event traffic entering the stadium parking lot will be directed to St. Linus Drive and the second stadium entrance. Drivers should follow posted message boards and directions from officers working traffic control.

Rideshare traffic will operate differently. The St. Charles High School parking lot will be accessible from Piney Church Road only to rideshare vehicles, with pickups and drop-offs taking place at the front of the school, authorities said.

Residents will continue to have access to neighborhoods surrounding the stadium. However, the sheriff's office recommends using St. Jacobs Drive and St. Rita's Drive during periods of heavy event traffic.

The biggest changes could occur when the festival ends. Authorities said St. Linus Drive and Piney Church Road may be temporarily closed to help move vehicles away from the stadium efficiently.

Anyone traveling through the Waldorf area should allow additional time and watch for officers, message boards and changing traffic patterns throughout the weekend.

The sheriff's office did not provide exact times for potential temporary closures, meaning conditions could change based on traffic volumes as festival crowds arrive and depart.
